Software ^_^

Assalamualaikum,

Firstly, what is software? From my understanding, software is the intangible part of a computer that we cannot touch it. Besides that, there are 3 categories of software that are System Software, Application Software and Programming Software. Hence, there are 2 types of systems software which are Operating System or sometimes as known as OS and Utility Programs.

In addition, from what Mr. Azamuddin had teach us, Programming Language ia a language for a programmer to communicate with computer and they are divide into 2 types that are Low Level Language and High Level Language. The first generation is Machine Language and the second is Assembly Language are Low Level Language. Besides that, the third, the fourth and the fifth generation language which Procedural Language, non-procedural Language and Artificial Intelligence are High Level Language.

Hence, we had learnt about categories of application software which are Commercial Software, Shareware, Freeware and Public Domain Software. Besides that, Mr. Azamuddin also showed to us how to install and uninstall the software. I had learnt many thing that new for me and I did not know it previously.

I think that all from me today and do not forget to smile… ^_^

History Of Computer ^_^

Assalamualaikum,

From this topic, I know who was invented the computer. They were 4 people which are Blaise Pascal (1642), Gottfried Leibniz (1670), Joseph-Marie Jacquard (1801), and Charles Babbage (1820). Moreover, from what I had learnt there were 5 generations of computer. The first generation is (ENIAC and UNIVAC) in 1940-1950, the second is Transistor in 1950-1964, the third is Integrated Circuit in 1964-1674 then follow by the fourth is Single-Chip Processor and the fifth is Artificial Intelligence. To conclude all the generation of computer, the latest and the high quality is the fifth generation that computer can think and learn.

From what I had understood, computer architecture had 5 component that are processer, memory, output & input, data path and control. Then, the speed is measured in hertz (Hz), then the capacity is measured in bytes. Previously, I had learnt about categories of computer, they were 5 which are Embedded Computer, Mobile Computer, Personal Computer, Midrange Servers, Mainframes, and Super Computer.

Moreover, they are two types of memory from what I had learnt in the lecture. The first is RAM (Random Access Memory) which is volatile and the second is ROM (Read Only Memory) which is nonvolatile. In addition, storage hold data, instruction and information for future use, that mean a place where we can put or back up our data and files, for example pen drive, CD, hard disk, and etc.

I think that all from me today and do not forget to smile… ^_^

Hardware ^_^

Assalamualaikum,

In this week, I had learnt about hardware, this topic quite long, so we need to cover this topic for 2 weeks. However, I already learnt it in the previous trimester which is in Information and Technology class. As we know, computer is a programmable machine that carries out what it has been instructed to do. Hence, there are 5 basic operations a computer can perform; they are Input, Processing, Output, Storage and Communication. From what I had understood, hardware is the physical parts such as keyboard, mouse, CPU and etc.

Besides that, a “Bit” is the most basic unit of information in a computer that is represents data. A “Byte” is a group of 8 bits (8 Bits = 1 Byte). Then, this is my favorite part because I need to calculate that is number system. There are 4 number systems, that are Decimal which is B10 and the value are 0-9, the second is Binary which is B2, they are 0 and 1 also known as BITS. The 0 represent for OFF and the 1 represent for ON. Then, Octal which B8 and they are 0-7. Lastly, Hexadecimal which is B16 and its use 16 symbols (Numerical + Letter) that are 0-F. At the first time, I was confusing to count it, but when Mr. Azamuddin gives more example I can get it, oh it not difficult than I thought. From my understanding, when we want to convert decimal to binary, octal, and hexadecimal we need to use division method. Then, when we want to convert binary, octal, and hexadecimal to decimal we need to use multiplication method.

I think that all from me today and do not forget to smile… ^_^

The first class ^_^

Assalamualaikum,

My name is Chek Nazirah Binti Chek Yum. I am from Alor Setar, Kedah. This is my first post for Computer and Internet. This is my second trimester for me in foundation studies, last trimester I took the Information and Technology. The first class,we having a Ice-Breaking Session that usually do in the first time come to class. Besides that, Mr. Azamuddin had explained to us the overview of the course all about. Hence, he told us about the assessment that we need to do it with marks and also submission date. As we know, everywhere has rules and regulation including in Computer & Internet, there are also have rules and regulation during the class.
